DCI Director Jonathan Beggs writes:
“The literacy teachers recently underwent a six-day intensive training. The first two days focused on new phonics techniques, with expert trainers from Jenga organization. Then we focused for a couple of days on new teaching and learning techniques, from understanding differing student abilities and learning styles to facilitating discovery based learning. Then we took the teachers to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre in Entebbe, and a quick visit to Uganda’s airport, things they had only heard about before. Next, we will work on adjusting the curriculum to suit their individual class needs and help them to integrate topics better. There will be sessions on digital data management with a new cell phone app we are developing for their smartphones. We are also introducing a new cultural storybook project for the students”.
Life Seeds Oregon and Jonathan Beggs, Overseer of DCI Uganda Literacy Program, are so grateful for the prayers and support of each of you for these teachers to get this valuable training to help their students succeed! Jonathan wrote: “It was intense but fun”!
